Part of the adventure is discovering for yourself where to go and what to do while you are on your visit. Reviews may give you tips, but its your mouth and stomach we are talking about.

The first thing to look out for and take note on your checklist is to go where the locals go. For definitely, when in Rome one must do what the Romans do, so the locals will be the best guide as to where to go, especially to eat. The locals will always know where to get the best food for the cheapest price, so go where they go.

No matter what anyone says, local or otherwise though, if the food is good but the place it is served at is dirty, do not go. You should be also careful where food is served, you want it from a clean and hygienic place, for even though it may be cheap and taste good, the dollar you save now will be spent later on in the hospital. Be prudent about where to eat, and also be safe. Always eat clean.

A place that you should go to must always have oysters on the menu. This is basically because Mobile is also known for the oysters it produces and sells. Look for it in the menu and the more ways and varieties it is served, whether baked, fried, fresh or even boiled, then so much the better for you and your appetite.

A good place to eat good old Alabama food will not be complete if it does not have its own take on the PoBoy, a famous local sandwich that speaks for itself. The original PoBoy was a sandwich that had oysters and some meat. There will be many variations while you go around the state, as they will make their own concoctions which will include shrimp, crawfish crab and other yummy ingredients.

The best seafood candidate on your list should also have gumbo on the menu. Gumbo is a thick pasted soup or broth that has chicken, spices, oysters and vegetable in its original form. Depending on the place that you go to, it may also contain more than one kind of seafood in it as well and may likely include other meats like sausages and pork.

Basically, the best seafood place in Mobile that you will look for will have a smattering of offerings that cover the cooking methods most known in the area, which is either grilled, fried or baked. Find a place that has these kind of cooking offerings on all the ingredients the sea has to offer and you will be halfway there.
