Designing two or three dimensional models which the help of computer software is known as computer aided design and drafting. The applications are in the field of machinery part designing, interior or exterior architecture of a building, designing a model of a ship or airplane. Computer aided manufacturing is a subsequent process after CAD. This is a software tool to program machines. Applications are usually into manufacturing industry. There will be an operator who will be trained and designated to operate the machine.

Robot is a complex system that does work more or less like a human. They do not go in a loop and perform same task again and again like an ordinary computer automated machine. These systems are used in military, space exploration missions, unmanned aircrafts etc. They broadcast and store accurate information.

After making robots which were a look alike of humans, people wanted these systems also start self learning and perform problem solving skills. From here the concept of artificial intelligence emerged. Initially they were tested in gaming like playing chess. After proven success they were used in space exploration programs and military mission. Today people fear that one day machines will take control of humans.

There is heavy machinery in manufacturing firms which are automatically operated by computers. These simple coded machines can perform a task repeatedly like cutting or drilling. They do not have any intelligence to understand the obstacle that in front of them. Sometimes human beings that are operating them have their hand or limb getting stuck into these machines which can have catastrophic effect.

The robots and machines will be replacing the humans in a decade. This has already started in military where there are more casualties. Examples are the unmanned aircrafts which enter into enemy territory for spying purpose. Soon the hard labor worker like in construction business will be replaced. These robots can do work cheaply and more efficiently.

This side of technological advancement has two sides of a coin. The positive part is lot of life human life can be saved. They can be used for rescue operations where it is risky for man. The flipside is due to AI machines can gain more intelligence and it will be difficult for humans for control them.

Today lots of people are laid off from companies due to automation. The computer programs are doing the task with more efficiency and lower cost. Hence companies are making more profit out of this and can avoid paying high wages to the employees.
