LSU Items Of Memorabilia Are Available For Fans

By Jerry Barnes

College sports fans can be fanatics. Some will plan family vacations, call in sick to work, and miss birthdays and anniversaries, because of a special rivalry game or a championship competition. This seems to be especially true in the South, and Louisiana State University undergraduates and alumni are part of that culture. Some Tiger enthusiasts will don war paint and dress in school colors just for a game they watch at home. LSU items of memorabilia are treasured by these dedicated fans.

People have been known to build screening rooms in their homes that replicate, as much as possible, the stadium environment of their favorite football team. They purchase seating when coliseums are renovating or making changes to sections of the arena. These seats can then be restored and modified to fit the enthusiast's room measurements.

Football is not the only sport to be played at LSU, as basketball fans will tell you. These people are proud of the fact that Shaquille O'Neal played here his junior year and wore number thirty-three on his jersey. It is not hard to find signed photographs depicting him in the act of sinking a shot while airborne.

Shaq is only one legend to come out of Louisiana State. Football fans revere the name Billy Cannon. With the help of the internet, they can even watch the halfback's amazing Halloween night touchdown in 1959. That was the same year he won the Heisman and saw his jersey retired. It is possible to purchase a signed photo or mini helmet in appreciation of his talent.

There are other popular players who have had memorable moments in their careers. Odell Beckman and Patrick Peterson have been immortalized in the moment of spectacular catches and plays. The athletes have signed some of those photographs for fans, and they can be purchased on several sports memorabilia websites.

Signed photos are probably the most available and most commonly purchased sports items. Fans can also buy helmets, mini helmets, footballs and basketballs with the signatures of their sports heroes. You can get an official LSU jersey with your favorite number embroidered on it as well. Finding signed jerseys can be more difficult. Some fans collect tigers in honor of Mike the Tiger, LSU's beloved mascot.

Anyone who has memorabilia of value will want to make sure they are stored and displayed correctly. Most photos you purchase will come enclosed in frames as a part of the cost. That may not be the case with helmets, footballs, basketballs, or jerseys. These articles should be put into special cases and kept free of dust and bright sunlight. These cases can be customized with logos and pedestals to enhance the presentation.

Sports fans can never seem to get enough of their favorite teams and players. Whether it is football, basketball or baseball, personalized photos, balls and jerseys are prized possessions for them.
